My 700X40s have provided surefooted ice and packed snow, mostly 
guessing  about pressures by feel.
On the road at higher pressure they feel sluggish compared to my regular 
puncture protected commuting tire and do still have stud contact with the 
road making an audible and physically sensed low frequency buzz.
