I was able to take advantage of a good friend's child's second birthday to
get in a wee bit of riding and camping this weekend. I have a group of
friends that love to camp (improved variety - sometimes with cabin rentals
even) at the 'Friends of Malaekahana' campsite on Oahu. The camp has some
'eco-cabins,' yurts, tent spots, hot water, etc. It can be camping, or not
depending on your mood.

Yesterday I headed out early on my 2012 62cm Hunq shod with the 50mm Big
Bens. I was packing more than I wanted (or needed) as I had to help run a
meeting for a convention committee I'm on. I had a conference web cam and
computer with me, as well as gift for my friend's two year old.

I made it Kaneohe from Honolulu, my odometer showing around 30 miles in
time for the start of our morning meeting. It went on way too long, ending
just before one. Ouch. Instead of riding the rest of the way through
Kaneohe a friend gave me a ride a couple miles to the edge of town, still
had 20+ miles to go. If you've ever lived here you'll probably agree
Kaneohe isn't a great biking town, while it's neighbor, Kailua, is trying
very hard to become one.

I made it to the party just a few minutes later than I'd said, mostly due
to stopping for cold drinks. The party was great and the folks I hadn't met
before were all impressed with my Hennessy Hammock. Me too.

The ride back today was tougher as it's mostly into the wind. Still it was
a great day for a ride and save for the a couple of rest breaks and few
photo ops I made it on schedule.

The Hunq was great this weekend. I've been have a few problems with it,
creaks I can't track down, things loosening that shouldn't, having to
replace a wheel, etc. Today it just ran smooth. The 50mm BB's are wonderful
on our roads out here which tend to go from smooth to nasty rather quickly.

Here'''s some photos of it:
