I think there are a lot of factors that contribute to flat frequency, but I think at the top of the list are total axle weight and tire pressure. I'm only 160 lb and keep my Hetres between 30 psi (for gravel) and 45 psi (for smooth pavement), and I think this might explain why I've only had one flat so far.
