I keep mine lashed to my R-14 Rack. I short pieces of 1/2" wide nylon
strap that are zip-tied closed. So the zip ties are just attached to the
strap and not to the leather. This gives me security but seems to be
easier on the leather.

I carry a commuting load that is some clothes, lunch, coffee and a laptop.
I've used to to transport groceries. It's big enough to carry a couple
of grocery bags worth, but it's the wrong shape unless you unload them from
the grocery bag. It also fits two flat boxes of a dozen dunkin donuts each.

Another thing is that I've had it in some pretty extreme downpours and the
inside has stayed dry. I would not leave it out in the rain, however, if I
was camping.
