1/4 scale refers to the size of the servo nothing more. You can easily get a standard size servo with more torque and speed than a 1/4 scale servo. I use standard size servos in a rock crawler that are rated at 480 inch Oz torque and .12 seconds for 60 deg. This is more than most 1/4 scale servos.
