Vantec has a repair service. Not sure what it costs, but I have a small Vantec RET ESC I need to send in for repair. It won't reverse. The RDFR 23 is kinda small on amps, but it should be fine if you were using breakers or fuses? When I wire up an ESC, I always put a fuse or a breaker inline between the motor and the ESC. The rating of the fuse is less than the rating of the controller.
