Maybe the hair that needs splitting here is what is meant by "language." The FRBR report puts the "language" attribute at the expression level, defined there as "the language in which the work is expressed." It does not define such a "language" attribute at the work level; but I'd agree that language might well be part of the "Context" attribute for the work level, and of course that including such information about the original version of a work is appropriate for catalog records.
All- The latest draft of "Functional Requirements for Authority Data" was released, and included in its scope are revisions to FRBR: http://www.ifla.org/VII/d4/wg-franar.htm Among these is the addition (4.4, p. 20) of an "Original language of the work" attribute to the Work entity. Given this revision I would now second Martha Yee's recommendation of adding "Colorization" (for both still and moving pictures) and "Sound" attributes to the Work entity; or equivalently, one could instead add a "Canonical" attribute to the Expression entity to indicate whether one expression is considered definitive.
