My favourite example of this is a catalogue which omitted all 245 main
entries because the 1st indicator wasn't "1". No "1", not traced,
right? Sometimes a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

So true. But if an increasing number of our own are willing to
substitute computer manipulation of raw data for bibliographic
records, how likely is that to occur?
