What language for inclusions shall we use for Spanish or German items
going to an English/French bilingual catalogue? What language shall
we use for roman alphabet material going to an Asian or Arabic
catalogue?
It would seem to me translating "S.l." into "Place of publication not
identified" is something software could do for those who want it.
That would be easier to do than translating "Place of publication not
identified" into a wide range of languages for differeing languages of
the catalogue.
Another solution which has been suggested is offering translation of
the abbreviation when clicked in the OPAC.
RDA is a giant step backward in terms of IFLA's goal of UBC (universal
bibliographic control), including international standardization and
exchange of records.
