Thanks, Mac and Deborah

Interesting to get two such different answers, both with much to be said
for them.

RDA does have the concept of 'supplementary content' (e.g. indexes,
bibliographies, appendices), and such content is presumably irrelevant
to whether the resource is treated as single-work or compilation. I'm
now thinking that I should approach this issue by asking myself whether
it would be reasonable to regard the minor components as merely
supplementary content.

In many cases this would not be reasonable - even quite brief essays and
interviews in an art-related resource are often significant components
of the primary content; but in the case of exhibition catalogues it
would be entirely reasonable to consider any essays or interviews as
supplementary to the main purpose of presenting a set of art works.

This would also allow the cataloguer to respect the 'feel' of the thing
- sometimes minor components feel like courtesy contributions or vanity
contributions and the resource would be just as well worth having
without them.

That would give me at least some of the best of both worlds.

Best wishes,
Bernadette

SLC most often uses interviewer and interviewee relator codes for oral
history, whether print, electronic, or sound recording. We don't use
the qualifier (clients don't know what it means, nor want it).

Main entry is interviewee.
