I tested with "foo" and "FOO", i get the same error as you, padiovi.
FAT32 needs 'A-Z\x00-\x1f"*/:<>?\\\\|\x7f;' - 'A-Z;' is not sufficient.
You could try '\x00-\x1f"*/:<>?\\\\|\x7f;' (you need to figure out how
the escaping works in bash), but i wouldn't recommend it.
