I'm with William.. Outback has gobs of gadgetry that makes gen control fun.. just make sure it's set up right, and don't be bashful about calling Outback with questions.. especially if you're using their battery monitor goodies... also might be a good idea to make sure you're set up to use AGS (Mate), as opposed to Genalert (FX)... Genalert sucks.. good luck. db

Daryl:

I believe the Mate is the best option to start a generator and exercise control over generator battery charging.  Outboard units have proven to be less intelligent about charging functions.  I recommend you work out your problems with the Outback and use the Mate.

What kind of problems have you been having?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good, autonomous generator auto
start. We have an off grid system with a substantial array (8 kw) and
using a dual OutBack 3648 PP, but we have not had good luck with generator
auto start using the relays and Mate within the OutBack equipment. I would
like to try something whose function would be to sense battery voltage and
start based on adjustable settings. Any favorites out there? The customer
has a new Onan 12 kw gennie.
