It certainly works with Safari to TextEdit. I drag and dropped the
sentence "Try this with both Safari and TextEdit." and dropped it on
the dock icon for TextEdit... TextEdit was not open at the time.
Try this with both Safari and TextEdit.
I tried it -- it didn't work. Dragging text from my mail client
(Eudora), trying to drop on either of those, the icon didn't
highlight, and when I dropped anyway, it made a text clipping in my
Applications folder. I'm running OS 10.4.4.
