renaming parent folder of active app

I'm getting the 104 file error message while trying to rename the parent 
folder of the app which is running. I'm guessing the error is because 
there is an active process running inside the directory that needs the 
path with the old folder name in it, thus I can't rename it. Is that 
true? Is there any possible way to do it?
