Lots of questions but Im happy to answer. "I see your name regularly here. What keeps you popping on to this NUG so often ?" Four reasons: A. Valentina for REALbasic is one of the longest sold commercially available plugins for REALbasic. As far as I know, its also the only solution available (through VDN Platform) for creating and deploying true client-server database applications, royalty free - Valentina Embedded Server in its base form is royalty free. Its got a lot of other features too, particularly for REALbasic users, such as its own set of sub-classed, databound controls. This is why Ive harped a bit on third party tool maker relations. B. Some other companies I own also have some development in process with REALbasic, though with REALbasic 5.5.5 for Windows. C. My company Proactive International (http://www.proactive-intl.com) managed international business development for REAL Software from the release of REALbasic 1.0 through RB 2005.x (don't recall the exact versions and exact dates without digging, but to the best of my knowledge, much from 1998-part of 2005 - outside of Geoff and Jason, the longest experience with the product in a business sense). Before you ask - an amicable parting of ways. Related to this - Ive gotten to know a lot of long time users of REALbasic both professionally and personally and I also keep my eyes open for promising products. "Do you participate as much on mailing lists for all the vendors Valentina supports ?" Partially. I regularly participate on the Director-L and Revolution lists, and associated forums - but its in proportion to list traffic and character of the venue. The Director-L and Revolution lists are very different than the REAL list. "Do the RB related products you sell constitute a big portion of your overall sales?" What I can say is that its worth the effort I put into it :-) There are a good number of developers who use one supported IDE but find that they are running into other issues with the combination - the result is, there have been quite a few Director users, for example, who have come over to REALbasic + Valentina for REALbasic. I cant speak for my esteemed colleagues who also provide third party solutions such as Bjorn Einhugur or Christian Schmitz of MonkeyBread, but I suspect that we are the small few that are able to sustain a business around selling third party solutions for REALbasic developers. However a huge difference for us is that Valentina database technology is really outside of REALbasic itself, and has just been well adapted to work with it. So instead of being a REALbasic tool developer, Paradigma is a tool developer that supports REALbasic.
