It's not RS responsibility to make sure you are licensed for anything
but RB.  I don't see how this is any different than using the included
Oracle plugin.  Up to you to understand the licensing involved with
using the databases.

I have to agree with Gerard on this, not a new discussion about MySQL.

Except that, and someone please correct me if wrong, the old version of the plugin did not have this issue. So the *RB* update with the new MySQL plugin effectively altered the client side licensing requirements and costs for people building and distributing MySQL client apps, with no notice regarding the impact.

One could build a client app with 5.5, license a server, and be fine. That same person could then take the same exact code base, compile with RB200x, and be in violation of MySQL licensing with new client side license fees and restrictions.

The change was in RB, not MySQL.
