You can ask money for a GPL application you made (or derived from another
GPL application). Richard Stallman did that too, and bought a more powerful
hard drive for the PC he was using to make floppy distributions of free
applications.
I will not write here how much you can ask, but I will briefly say you
cannot ask $200 for every copy you sell. :-)
