I'd love to buy DVD(s) of it. I can't go this year for timing reasons, and
haven't been able to go before...but have sure wanted to. I'd probably even
pay the conference price - $51 for it.

For the video part, has anyone checked out the WWDC videos? They don't even
use any live video, it's all just slides and screencaptures, they don't cut
to an actual person at all. At first I thought it was going to be annoying
not to see the speaker, but it really wasn't bad at all. Actually it helped
focus my attention on the important details; they just clicked through a
Keynote/Powerpoint slideshow during the entire sesson and cut to the live
computer screen when a demo was needed.

In that case, no video cameras would even be needed. Although it would take
a bit more post-production work, you could even just record an audio feed
and add in the slides and redo the screencaptures later. For people that
can't attend the REALthing, there wouldn't really be any money lost, only
money gained. Here's to hoping anyway :)
