Well, yes, a Win32 hook is Windows-centric. Since you haven't mentioned 
what platform you're coding for, OS X, OS 7.54 <oh lord... so broken>, 
Fedora Core 3, and so on, it's going to be tough to get meaningful answers.

I don't think RS, the company, could help you much since there isn't 
any, to my knowledge, built-in functionality of this sort.  It's going 
to be platform specific. If you're using OS X I'd suggest digging into 
the Carbon API. I wish I could point you further, but I've never 
programmed for the Mac.

Also, at least in Windows, a program that monitors system-wide 
keystrokes may be identified as a virus.
