As I discovered :-/.

It looks like I'm heading this way:

Boolean CellEdited

In CellTextChange:

        If Not CellEdited Then CellEdited = True

In CellAction:

        If Not CellEdited Then
                Return True
        Else
                // Call the update method
        End If

Logic feels good, but the proof is in the tasting of the pudding.   
Thoughts?
