Alternatively it might work if you were to register your own mime type and extension, put a plain text .<your_extesion> file on your web site containing the .rm file's URL and then make your VB application read the contents of the text file and open the URL using the RealPlayer ActiveX control. I recommend the later option as it doesn't involve taking over mime types.
