I'm new to multimedia production (first day of work they announced that I
would be their new multimedia specialist) so I don't have experience with
other recorders but I have the canon XL1 and I love it.

It was able to start using it right away using the automatic settings. I've
since read the manual and played with it more and am thrilled with all it
offers.

I also capture presentations at conferences and a spotlight setting for
dark rooms with only podium lit has been very helpful. Even at a distance
(from the back in auditoriums and conference halls) I've been able to
capture stills of the speakers good enough for the web.

with an audio feed to the soundboard the audio typically requires no editing
at all unlike when I was capturing from video and audio tape.

I'd be glad to answer any specific questions you might have.

Cate

Has anyone worked with the Canon Xl1 or The Sony DSR-200A? Can someone
recommend either of these cameras. The work that is being done is
recording
presentation and administrator speeches. so not much action will be
occurring

thanks
