Some months ago I requested that the sittarget functionality be fixed. There are several issues here:
1. Sittargets for prims 2. Sittargets for meshes 3. Whether to persist with the Linden labs script-based approach to sittargets, or add a sittarget panel to the object editor. I would like to see one in the rex panel. The default sittarget behavior for any avatar on a prim is unacceptable. The sittarget behavior for meshes is undefined. Is it tied to the underlying prim? Once these problems are fixed, we need to attend to the sit animations.
