Some friends pointed me to the very interesting taiga server which should be able to use a completely new and effective model for authentication.
However it is quite unclear the procedure (and IF) for making it working under Linux (Ubuntu for instance). We started to install it from modrex source and partially succeeded in doing this, but got some problems so this is why I'm asking if there is a well established and clean way for installing it without much hassle :) This might be quite interesting: I wanted to build up a grid in Italy to show how opensim can be used professionally by teachers educators and others to develop high quality meshing architecture showrooms and live 3D worlds (maybe to put in parallel to already established Cyberlandia grid).
