Another report here...

http://money.cnn.com/2002/03/13/news/companies/musiccity/index.htm

"Previously, the site only housed the software that enabled users to
share files. The new site will still run on the same technology, but
users will be directed to a separate site, Morpheusos.com, to gain
access to the software."

"same technology"? "MorpheusOS"? Well, their download page is at...

http://www.morpheus-os.com/

How long has it had the "OS" in its URL? That certainly gives it a
REBOL flavor.

There's discussion in that article about whether their business model
will work. "But it's a model that's been proven difficult to
generate revenue. It's a tough thing because the vast majority of
users go to download popular music -- they are going to find a
limited audience." I doubt it'll work too, as people don't like
being asked for money every ten minutes. Basic human nature.

A better idea would be subscribing to such a network where the
subscribers have unrestricted access to everything and with the
content providers receiving their cut of those subscriptions based on
how popular their content is. Need a lot of stuff there to make
people believe it was worth subscribing to in the first place though.
