Senator claims Stolen
Generations in dark over
funding

The Northern Territory's Labor Senator, Trish
Crossin, says members of the Stolen Generations
are not being consulted about how federal funding
is spent.

The Federal Government has repeatedly referred
to $63 million allocated to relieve the effects of
past policies of removing Aboriginal children.

Senator Crossin says a Senate inquiry into the
Stolen Generations has heard evidence from many
affected people that they do not have enough
input.

"It may occur through coincidently Stolen
Generation people being on the child agency
bodies or on the boards of institutions that have
got languages money, but there's no specifically
designed national or state or territory group of
Stolen Generation people that are used as
reference and consultative people as to where this
money might go," she said.
