Peter,
I whave this opinion of both political parties for passing this bill in the
lower chamber. So please read on...
Many things were wrong with our nation "when the ADF was formed" not the
least being the 'race' powers, so, yes I do object to the calling out of
the troops by a political party and not by Parliament.
As far as the clarifying goes, the UK has bungled through a thousand years
and two world wars without a constitution has it not?
The point remains, get it right not just workable. It is not only the
question of the Australians being aided must feel just that, but the other
two elements, the Australians not being aided and the poor bloody troops.
What we have now, bereft of Her Majesty's Opposition, is political and the
troops deserve more than that, that is just why the GG commands them and
not bloody politicians.
Its an ideal I know. Nontheless, the target must be spotted and an aiming
point made. In the fall of shot, this document does not reflect that
spirit of being apolitical.
