Hi Tim,
Yes, I have just had a read through it.
Thanks for forwarding it.
It certainly bears little resemblance to the various media reports on the
speech---as suspected.
Personally, I believe that the "greed system" and the use of racism as a
weapon of the greedy is the cause of the position Aborigines and other
exploited people are in.
That is why welfare is needed----a proper share of the wealth would be
better ,but that seems unlikely while the means of communication are owned
by those who have most to gain by having a dispossessed and divided
underclass at their disposal.
Call the problem the 'class system" if you like, but the old idea of class
allows people like Murdoch and Packer for example to parade themselves as
men of the people or anti-elites or anti-intellectuals or whatever, when in
reality, they are the powerbrokers and among the main benficiaries of the
degredation of Aboriginal people and other unemployed and dispossessed.
I still think this is not the time to be making statements that are too
easily used by the exploiters to support the case of those who demand "
mutual responsibility" from the exploited on such an uneven playing
field----reponsibility for what----their own degredation---I don't think so.
