The Sydney Morning Herald Letters Jan 14, 2002 Time to right a wrong
Mr Ruddock is fond of the term "sending the right message" in defending government policy on asylum seekers, as you note in your editorial, "A cruel delay" (Herald, January 7). I wonder if he and Mr Howard ever pause to consider the subliminal messages which they simultaneously send to the Australian people: self-interest is paramount, compassion is weakness, hate and fear those who are desperate. And, of course, never say sorry. Rosemary Dunlop, Gordon, January 8. Regarding Tony Abbott, it seems to me the world would be a better place and he would be a better man if the Abbott retired to his abbey, did a long, silent retreat and purged himself of the unchristian ideas he has learnt from his Liberal community, headed by "Father" John Howard. Fr C. Harry Leis, Tamworth, January 8. -- __________________________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------------------------------- RecOzNet2 has a page @ http://www.green.net.au/recoznet2 and is archived at http://www.mail-archive.com/recoznet2%40paradigm4.com.au/ until 11 March, 2001 and Recoznettwo is archived at http://www.mail-archive.com/recoznettwo%40green.net.au/ from that date.
