Before we get IPv6 it is likely that most of the time most of us will have access to several different mediums for obtaining ip packets from the Internet: cable, telephone line, wireless (wimax) and satellite. If dsl providers decide that all they are gonna do with QoS is sell it to the highest bidder I think that most of us will move to a new access medium thus destroying their business plan.
