Hi,

Go a few questions, and I would be greatful if I got some answers:

I had two system crashes in two days. The system is running RedHat 5.0 with
a 2.0.33 kernel. It is recompiled just to include the things I want. The
system got al erreta from RedHat applied to it.

I had multiple problems the last two days :

About two days I got the following messages in my syslog :

May 14 17:18:17 jdi modprobe: can't locate module binfmt-10
May 14 17:18:17 jdi modprobe: can't locate module binfmt-10
May 14 17:23:43 jdi telnetd[2118]: ttloop: peer died: Invalid or
incomplete multibyte or wide character
May 14 17:23:44 jdi telnetd[2119]: ttloop: peer died: Invalid or
incomplete multibyte or wide character
*May 14 17:24:45 jdi PAM_pwdb[2136]: auth could not identify password for

*May 14 17:24:45 jdi PAM_pwdb[2136]: auth could not identify password for
[root]
May 14 17:24:46 jdi telnetd[2137]: ttloop: peer died: Invalid or
incomplete multibyte or wide character
May 14 17:49:27 jdi ftpd[444]: FTP LOGIN FROM home.jdimedia.nl
[192.168.1.100], igmar

Then the messages with a * in front of it repeaded about 300000
times....

When I was working on it yesterday, the system suddenly died. Fist symptom
was PINE dumping core and saying something about busy.. It wouldn't quit.

Got a message in my console saying something about a block xxxxxx in the
freelist isn't free.

All programs that the system ran start complayning the they couldn't
allocate memory ???

Problems started after putting the system in an new case. Could this be the
problem ???

            Thanks !!! Igmar
