We are experiencing a number of power outages here at the university
with undesirable effects on the UNIX systems.
Upon re-booting the postgres-sql deamon postmaster did not boot ?
A closer look revealed this message upon re-booting

rpc.mountd cannot register service FATAL err no 80: or something like
that, it all flashes by so quickly : )
I know this is the NFS deamon but I really don't understand the nature
of the error ?

By the way this newbie has had a stable system for over three month,
through many upgrades (harware and software),
and is almost finished a netbased JAVA frontend for the postgresql
database.
A shining example of the robustness of the Linux operating system and
the support of the redhat list.
