Am running about system, installed RH 5.1, 5.0 and 4.2 trying to get past an odd issue that I hope someone can shed some light on as haven't found any reference to this. . . I cannot run a PCMCIA LAN card (3COM 3c589D) and a Megahertz 56K PCMCIA card simultaneously in this ThinkPad. Have used exact same cards and variations of these cards in some other laptops without a problem (modem dials and the LAN handles a small subnetwork). The modem will dial, but the LAN card just hoses even tho I can ping the device making it appear that it is active. If I remove the modem, the LAN card works. As mentioned, I have worked with this configuration in some other laptops for a long time and know the technology well, so I am certain this doesn't work in the above scenario. Question is, anyone have any ideas on why this is with the 380ED IBM ThinkPad. . . ? Workarounds? As also mentioned, I have tried several Linux releases and none resolve this, so it appears to be hardware related. . .
