Dear John,
The problem is probably that you have to give the kernel (or the module)
the irq and io adress , try to figure that out. then you could have a look
at the archive of beginning of last week as soon as its on the web there
was some diskussion about how to configure a ne2000. it works on kernel
2.0.32 2.0.33 and also in 2.0.34 both compiled into the kernel  and as
module.
