There is no such thing as a Cyrix 300Mhz.  They are also generally
noticebly slower per mhz than other chips.  I have the K6-2 300 w/3Dnow,
and it screams in Linux...  Now, the regular K6 wont be much different,
since there is no 3dnow software availabel for Linux yet.  It is possible,
tho to get a Mesa/GL driver to support 3Dnow, which could provide an
enormous performace boost (In windows, Quake2/GL performace is 80-90%
faster with 3dnow GL drivers on the same chip, versus standard drivers)

I would go with the K6 or K6-3d...
