A long time ago in a place far away.....

I was having same problem dialing into a WGS Dos Based BBS/ppp server.

A guy on the Caldera list sent me a note to start using

rickdman/ppp

as my login. 

Bypassed the menu completely!

Don't know if it will fit your situation, but worth a try.
