Hi!
There is a prebuit rpm version of Netscape Communicator in contrib
directory of
RedHat's ftp site it made for your (and mine :) system.
I think it's more secure don't touch libc in that sircumstances, but
keep it updated
(from updates dir on the same site, or mirrors of course!).
