Make sure that your other machines have your internal machine set as their gateway. If your other machines are Win95, use the network control panel to set the gateway. If they're Linux, check /etc/sysconfig/network to make sure a GATEWAYDEV and GATEWAY are set. The next thing to check is whether you have IP Forwarding turned on. Make sure that in /etc/sysconfig/network it says "FORWARD_IPV4=yes". (Note that this is with RH 5.0 and up, I don't recall if RH 4.2 did this). Without IP forwarding the packets will never get forwarded to the SLIP port that activates diald.
