Not sure that I agree with the cost issue you mention.  The P2B (plain) ASUS 
mb is available for prices as low as $149.00 US (Pricewatch), and the 
Mylex/BusLogic SCSI controller card is listed on Pricewatch for $155.00 US.  
The cheapest listing I found for the P2BLS was $339, considerably higher than 
the combined cost of the P2B & BusLogic.  To have a completely fair 
comparision, though, the combination of the P2B-L and BusLogic would come to 
about $377.00 US, still only $38.00US more than the P2B-LS with it's onboard 
SCSI.

The other issue you mention is the Adaptec support; Adaptec has announced, and 
apparantly has begun, active cooperation with the kernel developers to provide 
better support for Adaptec SCSI controllers under Linux.  Not having an 
Adaptec controller, I don't know if the support is better in RH 5.1, but would 
suspect that it is.
