I don't know if RedHat has patched the 2.0.32 kernel. However, the "stock"
2.0.3x kernels have a NE2000 driver that does not load properly as a module.
The kicker is if you do a "modprobe ne" and it instead burps out a bunch
of warnings about "Symbol not Found: XXXX". That's when you know you have
a problem.
Recompiling the kernel with the NE2000 driver built-in (rather than a module)
seems to solve that.
The addresses you gave will properly autoprobe with the NE2000 driver, so
you don't need to specify an "eth=" line in your lilo.conf.
Just make sure you boot with the new kernel after you build it! (I've been
guilty of booting the old kernel and then fussing because my change didn't
work :-).
