I believe that you can create an ext2 partition, and then convert it to ext3 using tune2fs. I have tried this a while ago, and I dont remember havign any issues.

tune2fs -j /dev/hdb1

I am trying to create a new partition on a new hard drive installed on
RH7.2 system

When I run the command:
/sbin/mkfs -t ext3 /dev/hdb1

It fails because it cannot find mkfs.ext3.

The problem I have is it can create ext2 partition. It created ext3
partitions when I first installed the o/s.

What am I missing?
