1) I've had this (or slight variations of it) firewall running since May of 200 2) I was able to get in from remote just about 3 hours ago, with the firewall up. Which packet counters increment when you try to connect? i.e. ipchains -vnL if you can safely test it, I would disable the firewall for a few seconds, and try it without the rules.
