I guess what I really need to upgrade is XFree86-4.0.1-1. When I try to install the XFree86-4.2.0-72 RPM, it says that XFree86-4.0.1-1 is needed by XFree86-xdm-4.1.0-3. When I try to install XFree86-xdm-4.2.0-72, it says that it needs XFree86-4.2.0-72. How do I upgrade X to 4.2.0-72? Thanks,
Try installing both at the same time. rpm -Uvh XFree86-4.2* XFree86-xdm-4.2*
