I installed RH8.0 (around 6 times now) from the SGI XFS installer, so
apparently this is untrue <wink>

ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/download/download/Release-1.2pre1/installer/

You can use this to install, then get the latest kernel from

ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/download/download/Release-1.2pre5/kernel_rpms/RPMS/
