I am having problems browsing the web or while trying to ping say yahoo.com. I think I am able to connect to my ISP, as evident from below given outputs.
Of particular interest(at least I think so) are the fields Peer and Name in tcpdump output. I have highlighted them using '#####'. I have removed the actual values. Peer = <xyz only or [EMAIL PROTECTED] I have tried both combos> Name = <password for the A/C>. 1) Results of adsl-status command Note: You have enabled demand-connection; adsl-status may be inaccurate. adsl-status: Link is up and running on interface ppp0 ppp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol inet addr:64.91.181.60 P-t-P:64.91.181.1 Mask:255.255.255.255 UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1492 Metric:1 RX packets:3 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:3 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 RX bytes:30 (30.0 b) TX bytes:30 (30.0 b) Looks fine to me. 2) Results of tcpdump command 22:59:36.236059 PPPoE [ses 0x65c8] LCP 16: Conf-Req(1), MRU=1492, Magic-Num=5f22bf46 22:59:36.236125 PPPoE [ses 0x65c8] LCP 20: Conf-Ack(203), MRU=1492, Auth-Prot PAP, Magic-Num=019400ef 22:59:36.267885 PPPoE [ses 0x65c8] LCP 16: Conf-Ack(1), MRU=1492, Magic-Num=5f22bf46 22:59:36.342763 PPPoE [ses 0x65c8] LCP 10: Echo-Req(0), Magic-Num=5f22bf46 ########### 22:59:36.342863 PPPoE [ses 0x65c8] PAP 19: Auth-Req(1), ***Peer=<usrname for my ISP A/C>, Name=<password for ISP A/C>**** ############ 22:59:36.359069 PPPoE [ses 0x65c8] LCP 10: Echo-Rep(0), Magic-Num=019400ef 22:59:37.852106 PPPoE [ses 0x65c8] PAP 7: Auth-Ack(1), Msg= 22:59:37.853814 PPPoE [ses 0x65c8] IPCP 12: Conf-Req(12), IP-Addr=66.32.179.1 22:59:37.889725 PPPoE [ses 0x65c8] IPCP 12: Conf-Req(1), IP-Addr=0.0.0.0 22:59:37.890504 PPPoE [ses 0x65c8] IPCP 12: Conf-Ack(12), IP-Addr=66.32.179.1 22:59:37.918377 PPPoE [ses 0x65c8] IPCP 12: Conf-Nak(1), IP-Addr=66.32.179.87 22:59:37.919083 PPPoE [ses 0x65c8] IPCP 12: Conf-Req(2), IP-Addr=66.32.179.87 22:59:37.935140 PPPoE [ses 0x65c8] IPCP 12: Conf-Ack(2), IP-Addr=66.32.179.87 22:59:57.933529 PPPoE PADT [ses 0x65c8] [Host-Uniq UTF8] [Generic-Error "RP-PPPoE: Inactivity timeout"] 23:00:03.111131 PPPoE PADI [Service-Name] [Host-Uniq UTF8] 23:00:03.153799 PPPoE PADO [Host-Uniq UTF8] [AC-Name "62031090088222-abd01.ca-sanfranc0"] I know it's a pretty long post...!!!
