I have an Epson 1650 (no photo), and after DAYS of googling, just one
line fixed my USB problem.

In /etc/modules.conf, and "alias usb-controller usb-uhci" (that is
assuming your MOBO is UHCI).

If it works, you will see stuff in a new "directory" in the /proc/bus
"directory" called "usb".

This "directory" will have a devices file with lots of good info.

You can also type in the command mount, and you should see a usddevfs
file system mounted.

The reason I put quotes around "directory" in /proc, is because it is not
real directory, but just in memory.

Good Luck,
Mike
