literly I type:
rpm -ivh kernel-2[1].4.18-24.8.0.i686.rpm

right after that I'm back at my prompt.
rpm -q kernel says: kernel-2.4.18-14 so nothing happend.

I must say that I also tried to install the source rpm with the same result.
