I'm setting up a machine for a friend with a pIV 2,4 GHz, 512 MB ram 333 MHz, mb GigaByte with standard IDE (no hw raid), and 2 maxtor 60GB. each disk has 3 partitions (same extents).
each couple of partitions (eg hda1 + hdb1) is a raid1 unit so everyting is mirrored I set up LVM for userdata on the biggest raid unit (48 GB) and defined one VG and several LVs I'm workingon it since 15 days now and I'm impressed how smooth and quick it works use webmin as GUI to manage LVs and FSs, it's very easy and efficient A 08:45 26/02/2003 -0500, vous avez écrit : >I have no experience with Soft-raid 1, but I've been using LVM in HP-UX and now Linux for years. >Very happy with it. >Using with ext3 in RH8 and RH7.3 no problems to report, except in 7.3 I had to issue: >vgchange -a y <volume-group-name> >in /etc/rc.d/rc.local to keep mount -a from barking during boot. > >Rick. > >Does it run smooth?
