I've had that problem.  It seems to be a problem with the newer aic7xxx
driver.  Get the new image for the driver from Adaptec.  Use dd to write it
to floppy.  When you boot, type "linux noprobe", and when prompted for a
SCSI driver, hit F2 and select then scroll down to the updated driver
(something like aic7xxx (updated)).  Continue the install.

The only problem I haven't found a fix for yet is using up2date on the
kernel.  It seems to go back to the evil, new aic7xxx driver on the RH
distro.

I have a Netserver LH II that works fine. I run a separate video card,
though. This is likely your problem. Try installing another video card
and get away from the on-board.
