ok i will do so asap. i would mention that lilo reports a dirty buffer error whenever i run it.

It sounds like grubby (called from the post install script) doesn't like your boot loader config file. Can you post either /etc/lilo.conf, or /etc/grub.conf depending on which bootloader you use?
